Photographer Central Profile

My name is Debbie McFarland and I have such a passion for capturing the personality and beauty in each unique person and family. I believe that each one of us has something special and I want to help show that to the world. I have been creating art my whole life, beginning with drawing as a toddler, painting as a child and photography as an adult. I started The Memory Cottage Portrait Studio in 1998, from my home. I became a Certified Professional Photographer with the Professional Photographers of America and traveled throughout the country, taking courses to improve my skills. After many knee surgeries and back surgery, I sadly sold my dream studio late 2011. I tried to feed my artistic soul with other avenues, yet I still had the craving for showing people how beautiful they truly are. I am excited to go back to the roots of the Memory Cottage, where it all began. I will be taking limited sessions on location, in a natural environment which helps people relax, smile and creates beautiful lighting. With six children of our own and 15 years of playing with (I mean, photographing) children, I can bring out the sparkle of your child or family. Since I will not be working as much as I have in the past, I encourage you to call me so we can plan your session and put it on the calendar.

You took my daughter's picture at lake Peachtree when she was 2. She's now 17. I took a set of white wicker furniture out there and you brought her flowers to hold. Her portrait is one of my favorite possessions. Thanks for the fun memory.
